Numerical modeling of ASR: an updated semi-empirical model

Abstract Alkali-silica reaction (ASR) is a deleterious expansion phenomenon affecting concrete structures worldwide. It occurs when susceptible chemical composition of components present, and it particularly rampant in inherently humid environments. This exacerbated found mass such as dams foundations. The amount volumetric ASR strain used to be deemed nearly constant, however, recent advances have shown that actually affected by the distribution stresses. Therefore, this behavior demands an update numerical models been devised simulate anisotropic ASR-driven expansion. paper deals with Saouma & Perotti’s thermo-chemo-mechanical coupled model, which has applied solely mechanical manner, updated account for varying strain.
